Algunas veces me preguntan de donde viene lo de ReyMono.. es por tarzan?...no...diosss...es por un personaje del clásico de la literatura china "Viaje al Oeste": Sun Wukong, el ReyMono.
En Marzo de este año se estreno en el Royal Opera House de Londres una obra basada en la novela. Dirigida por Chen Shi-Zheng, la música es de Damon Albarn, el hombre tras mis adorados Gorillaz (coincidencia?) y los decorados y caracterización de los personajes están ideados por Jamie Hewlett, el mismo que creo los personajes que ponen cara a Gorillaz y el mítico comic Tank Girl!!

Las películas de Seth Welton reflejan la existencia de una manera trágica y brutal. Al verlas siempre tengo la sensación de ser un funambulista caminando en equilibrio entre la vida y la muerte, entre el ser humano y el medio que soporta nuestra vida...
Si hoy os apetece ir al cine, pero no teneis tiempo suficiente. Os recomiendo encarecidamente, que os prepareis unas palomitas en el microondas..umm..bueno..mejor no, seguramente se os atragantarían...os recomiendo que os senteis media hora a ver esta animación. La historia es cautivadora, la presentación, el desarrollo, el tiempo, todo en ella se merecerían una producción profesional y una difusión en salas comerciales. Seth Welton es brillante.
Nota al margen: es curioso, porque hace unos días hablaba con una amiga sobre el segundo concurso de Dioramas hechos con Peeps (marshmallows o malvaviscos-las nubecitas de azucar-con forma de conejitos y pajaros) organizado por el Washington Post...comería Seth demasiados peeps?...bienvenido sea...

Ayer murieron 10000 personas...
BEIJING, May 12 -- A powerful earthquake hit central China on Monday, killing nearly 10,000 people, as schools and other buildings collapsed across eight provinces and tremors shook buildings as far away as Bangkok.
State media reported widespread damage, and officials feared that the death toll could rise sharply as rescue teams reached areas affected by the massive quake, the worst to strike the country in three decades.
Most of the damage appeared to be in Sichuan province, where as many as 5,000 people died and 10,000 were injured in one county alone, state media reported. The collapse of one high school left 1,000 students and teachers dead or missing, while further south, as many as 900 students were trapped beneath the rubble of another town's devastated high school..."People were terrified"

Hoy me acuerdo de este verso, mientras almaceno tres discos que quiero compartir con mis amigos en unas futuras jornadas musicales, que inauguraré en breve. El tema de Mayo, para comenzar: el tango y la milonga, por Astor Piazzolla (interpretado por Blas rivera, Argentina) GoTan Project (Francia, Suiza y Argentina) y Luciano Supervielle (Uruguay).

Tonsequitur ya tiene un espacio musical
Siiii... Jess ya tiene un espacio musical. Pasaos por alli y disfrutad de sus canciones. Ella sabe que la quiero, pero eso no nubla mi razon cuando digo que sus canciones son muy bonitas.. tienen un aire rasgado, a cantautora de otra època que me encanta! Jess, tenías que haber nacido en tiempos de Dylan, y hacer carretera y canción protesta... umm.. aunque entonces no hubieras disfrutado de Regina, o de Pauline.. o nosotros de ti ;) Espero que te reciban bien en el ancho mundo musical de myspaces y que algún músico de la zona de DC recoja el güante que estas echando. Un abrazo :)

"The Klein bottle is a descriptive model of a surface developed by topological mathematicians... ...The surfaces that mathematicians have developed hold intrigue for architects as they hold a promise of new spatial relationships and configurations. Technology (CAD) has played an important part in all this, it is now more possible to efficiently describe more complex shapes and spaces and communicate these to the build. Previously the more orthogonal means of communication – plans, sections and elevations naturally encourage buildings which are more easily described in these terms, i.e. boxes... This holiday house is situated on the Mornington Peninsula 1.5 hrs drive from Melbourne. It is located within the tee–tree on the sand dunes, a short distance from the wild 16th beach. From the outset MCR wanted a building that nestled within the tree line. That talked about journey and the playfulness of holiday time. What began as a spiral or shell like building developed into a more complex spiral, the Klein bottle. MCR were keen to be topologically true to the Klein bottle but it had to function as a home. We thought an origami version of the bottle would be achievable and hold some ironic fascination.... The house revolves around a central courtyard, a grand regal stair connecting all the levels. There is a sense of both being near and far to all occupants. Its endless, curling shell-like quality particularly in the tee tree brings about a comforting togetherness..."Materials

80 windows
Hoy me acuerdo de esta canción y de algo que escribía hace mucho tiempo, re-citando unas palabras de Neruda...

Lo escribía en una playa en Mojácar y aunque pareciera que me sentía triste, en realidad me sentía feliz como nunca. Para la mayor parte de la gente la nostalgia funciona hacia atrás sólamente; es un camino que nos lleva algún cruce del pasado. Yo a veces siento nostalgia del futuro. Me siento en esta encrucijada en la que estoy hoy, y miro hacia delante y hacia los lados, soy capaz de imaginar caminos que se cruzan, caminos que aun no hemos tomado y se que adentrarme en uno es renunciar a la belleza de otro. Es esa nostalgia. Y sentí algo parecido cuando me asome a estas 80 ventanas de Nada Surf..suena, resuena el mar lejano.

"...the results of an extensive exploration with shadows, the One Day Poem Pavilion demonstrates the poetic, transitory, site-sensitive and time-based nature of light and shadow.
Using a complex array of perforations, the pavilion’s surface allows light to pass through creating shifting patterns, which–during specific times of the year–transform into the legible text of a poem. The specific arrangements of the perforations reveal different shadow-poems according to the solar calendar: a theme of new-life during the summer solstice, a reflection on the passing of time at the period of the winter solstice. The time-based nature of the poem–and the visitor’s time-based encounters with it–allow viewers to have different experiences either seeing a stanza of the poem or getting the whole poem. All of these possible experiences are equally valuable and have meanings unique to the individual. This technique has the potential for producing particular effects and meanings within an architectural environment. Without the use of a source of power other than the sun, this project uses light and shadow to push the boundaries of communication and experiential delight..."
